PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of incidence on a light guide plate and working efficiency of mounting a light source. SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal display device 10 having a backlight 24 which is provided on the rear face side of a liquid crystal panel 18 and which comprises the light guide plate 15 engaged in a recess 25 inside an outer peripheral frame (side walls 20, 21) of a case 11 and an LED 13 placed so as to be opposed to an incident plane 15a constituting a side end face of the light guide plate 15, a flexible hook piece 23, which is made to be able to protrude from, and to draw back into a gap between an opposite incidence plane 15b opposed to the incident plane 15a of the light guide plate 15 and the case outer peripheral frame, is integrally formed with the case 11, the hook piece 23 is bent toward the outside in the case the LED 13 is inserted and disposed in a gap between the case 11 and the incident plane 15a of the light guide plate 15, and at the same time, after the LED 13 has been disposed, the light guide plate 15 is approximated and moved to the LED 13 side by making the hook piece 23 move into the gap so as to press the opposite incidence plane 15b of the light guide plate 15.
