PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerator that can maintain the lighting of an ultraviolet lamp regardless of a low-temperature atmosphere and darkness conditions in the refrigerator and can efficiently deodorize and disinfect the inside of the refrigerator. SOLUTION: A photocatalyst member 36, the ultraviolet lamp 37 that becomes the light source of the photocatalyst member 36, and a lighting circuit 40 in the ultraviolet lamp 37 are provided in the refrigerator. When the ultraviolet lamp 37 starts lighting, an output voltage from the lighting circuit 40 is made higher than a set voltage in lighting, so that voltage that is higher than the initial lighting voltage required under a low-temperature atmosphere is applied to the ultraviolet lamp 37, thus allowing the ultraviolet lamp 37 to start lighting appropriately even under a low-temperature environment and providing the refrigerator for efficiently deodorizing and disinfecting the inside of the refrigerator.
