<p>A system and a method for scrambling data according to a map, which is preferably user-defined, such that the sequential order in which the data must be read is determined by the map. Rather than employing a mathematical formula to scramble the data, the data is separated into a plurality of fragments (steps 3B,4A). A map is then selected (step 5) for determining the order of the fragments (step 6), such that without the map, the fragments cannot be assembled in the correct order. The process of arranging the fragments such that they cannot be correctly read without the map is referred to herein as "scrambling" (step 6), as opposed to encryption, as this process does not use a mathematical formula.</p> |
