A magnetic filter for treating fluids comprises spaced rings 2 of soft ferromagnetic material, rings 3 which are interposed between the rings 2 and permanently magnetised in axial directions such that adjacent rings 2 form magnetic poles of opposite polarity, and means 5 for axially clamping the rings together, the outer diameter of the rings 3 being smaller than the outer diameter of the rings 2 which are formed with lugs 6 for holding the rings in coaxial relationship. As shown, the inner diameter of the rings 3 is larger than the inner diameter of the rings 2 and the rings 3 are clamped by a non-magnetic bolt 5, the whole assembly being disposed within a non- magnetic housing 1. In another embodiment, the inner diameters of the rings 2, 3 are equal and the assembly clamped by an aluminium sleeve which passes through the assembly and has its ends turned over on to the end rings, the assembly then being secured to the housing by a bolt passing through the sleeve. |
