<p>Closing mechanism for soft tops, flaps, etc. of vehicles comprises a catch hook (5) mounted so that it pivots between an open and a closed position, and a pivotably mounted connecting lever (6) connected to the catch hook and to a control lever (10). A first end of a drive lever (11) is pivotably mounted on the control lever. A second end of the drive lever is mounted in a linearly displaceable manner in a first guide (9) arranged on the closing mechanism. The catch hook is mounted in a second guide (8) that is designed so that the catch hook performs a rotational movement after a linear movement during transition from the open position into the closed position.
