PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that a graphic image is buried in an ultrasonic image and is difficult to observe when the ultrasonic image and the graphic image are displayed simultaneously. SOLUTION: A graphic image generating part 22 outputs each pixel data constituting the graphic image to a judging part 24 according to a raster scan. The judging part 24 detects a continuous number of the graphic pixel data, selects a first shadow pattern when a plurality of the graphic pixel data continuously exist, and selects a second shadow pattern when an isolated graphic pixel data exists. In the first shadow pattern, the shadow having the thickness of two pixels in the horizontal direction is displayed on the right side of the graphic. When the second shadow pattern is selected, the shadow having the width of one pixel in the horizontal direction is displayed at the position spacing one pixel in the horizontal direction from the graphic.
