Heat exchanger (1) comprises a combustion chamber (7), a coolant transfer unit (5) made from metal and arranged in a first exhaust gas flow region (2) which faces the combustion chamber, and a second transfer unit (6) made from plastic and arranged in a second exhaust gas flow region (3) which is connected to the first flow region and faces away from the combustion chamber. Preferred Features: The first and second transfer units has a tube (4) with a casing surface on which the heat exchanger surfaces are arranged. The first transfer unit is made from steel, high grade steel, copper or aluminum or their alloys. The second transfer unit is made from a heat-resistant plastic.
