<p>A connection socket (11) for detachably connecting distal ends (22a, 22b) of different, thin and thick, light guides (20a, 20b) of endoscopes to a single light source device (10) is disclosed. The connection socket (11) comprises a socket block (7) with an aperture (7A) for insertion of a distal end (22a, 22b) of a light guide (20a, 20b) in an axial direction and a plurality of retainer plates (3, 3a) pivotally mounted within the socket block (7) and arranged around the aperture (7A) for holding and retaining a distal end (22a, 22b) of a light guide (20a, 20b) inserted within the aperture (7A), each retainer plate (3, 3a) having a peripheral edge (5) facing the aperture (7A) that comprises a first retaining edge section (5a) and a second retaining edge section (5b), wherein, when a distal end (22a) of a thin light guide (20a) is inserted within the aperture (7A), the retainer plates (3, 3a) retain the distal end (22a) with the first retaining edge sections (5a) and, when a distal end (22b) of a thick light guide (20b) is inserted within the aperture (7A), the retainer plates (3, 3a) are pushed and turned by a distal edge of the thick light guide (20b) to bring the second retaining edge sections (5b) into close contact with the distal end (22b) so as thereby to retain the distal end (22b) of the thick light guide (20b). <IMAGE></p> |
