1,039,745. Embossing. C. GROS. March 19, 1964 [March 20, 1963], No. 10968/63. Heading B6J. [Also in Division B5] In an embossing process, a colorant is applied to the embossing die or roller and transferred to a single or laminated sheet simultaneously with dielectric heating of the sheet to form the embossed design. In one example, the layers of a laminated sheet, comprising upper and lower layers of plastics material and a middle layer of foamed plastics material, are welded together along lines by means of a suitable highfrequency heating means, e.g. a die or a roller to which a colorant has been applied, the quilt lines of the finished sheet thus being formed in a different colour to the rest of the sheet. The colorant may be gold or bronze paint or a non- metallic paint or ink and may be sprayed, brushed or rolled on to the heating means. A design in two colours may be formed by using two suitably coloured and embossed heating means.
|
