The fastening comprises two injection-molded polymer bodies (1, 2), each with a loop (8) for attaching it to a garment or other article. Each body has a contact surface (14), a cavity (13) to receive a magnet, made e.g. from neodymium/iron/boron alloy, and a cover (21), ultrasound welded in place to seal the cavity with the magnet inside. When the two bodies are placed with their contact surfaces touching the magnets attract one another and hold the fastening together.
