A roof construction is formed using a prefabricated aluminium section framework, 11, 12, 15 (Figs. 2), by attaching to it a plaster, sheet aluminium or plywood panel or panels 30, with interposed slidable plastics spacing brackets 17, covering the panel or panels with a moulded in situ layer of foamed plastics material 33 (Fig. 6), and covering the framework with a roof skin 20. The roof skin is attached to the framework via connectors 19 which slide in upper grooves in the framework members, and have arms 19c which engage side walls of a trough 20a formed in the roof skin. A bracket 21, which also serves as a gutter, supports a fascia board 22. Depending flanges, e.g. 14c (Fig. 6), on the external framework members sit in recesses 25a in box-shaped members 25 forming parts of side walls 24 of the building, each of which has a foamed plastics insulating layer 26 and a plaster facing 27. The brackets 17 may be fixed to the panels 30, and may be apertured (as at 17c) to allow the passage of, e.g., electric cables 18. They can be removed from the framework members through wider slots 16b therein. To mould the plastics filling 33, the framework is laid on a table, with timber beams, e.g. 31 locating the outside members, e.g. 14, and the space is filled with the liquid plastics material.
