Beading of containers such as two and three piece can bodies (1) by rolling the can body (1) between tools (11,13), typically a roll/roll or a roll/rail of a rotatory turret system (10). During beading, a load is applied along the central axis of the can body, whereby axial and panel performance of the beaded can is improved.
