A binder including a spine having a first edge and a second edge, a front cover pivotally coupled to the first edge of the spine, and a rear cover pivotally coupled t o the second edge of the spine. The front cover is directly or indirectly attachable to the rear cove r to form a self-supporting binder. The binder further includes a binding mechanism coupled to the spine, wherein the binding mechanism is coupled to the spine in an off center manne r such that the binding mechanism is located closer to one of the edges than the other one o f the edges.
