Ribose-substituted aromatic derivatives of formula (I) and their salts, in all stereoisomeric forms, and their mixtures, are new: R1 = H or halo; R2 = H or 1-4C alkyl; R3 = halo or 1-4C alkyl; R4 = H, halo, or alkyl, alkenyl, or alkynyl with up to 12 C (optionally cyclic); Ra, Rb = H or 1-4C alkyl; or NRaRb = a mono- or polycyclic heterocycle which may contain a further hetero atom (O, N or S), or Ra and/or Rb may form a group of formula -CO-(CH2)n-N(alc1)(alc2); n = 0-6; and alc1, alc2 = 1-8C alkyl.
