Method of estimating concentration of certain chemicals in IC engine cylinder uses measurement and prediction of inlet manifold pressure and temperature

The method consists of the following stages: (1) Measurement of the pressure and temperature in the engine's inlet manifold (5) at iteration k; (2) Prediction of the pressure and temperature at iteration k + 1 as a function of the initial measurements; (3) Estimation of the masses of particular chemicals in the flow of fresh air, the inlet gas and recycled exhaust gases; and (4) Estimation of the chemical composition in the inlet manifold and the engine cylinder (1) before and after combustion at iteration k+1 as a function of the quantity of injected fuel and the calculated data from preceding iterations.
