Disclosed is a cannula holder comprising an elongate, cannula container (2) comprising a closable opening (3) on a first front surface side thereof, also comprising a cannula holding device (4,52,64) arranged on an opposite-lying second front surface side for receiving a cannula (5,65) and/or an adapter which can be placed on a cannula, protruding through the cannula holder (4,52,64) into the cannula container (2), further comprising an unlocking mechanism (7, 22, 42, 54) used to detach the cannula (5,65) and/or adapter after use. In order to remove the cannula in a particularly safe, quick and simple manner after use, the cannula holder is provided with an unlocking mechanism (7, 22, 42, 54) which is embodied in such a way that the cannula (5,65) and/or adapter falls into the cannula container (2) once the unlocking mechanism (7, 22, 42, 54) has been actuated.
