USE OF METALLIC CATIONS TO IMPROVE FUNCTIONAL ACTIVITY OF ANTIBODIES

Antibody (Ab) that has a zinc atom on residues His310 and His435. - Independent claims are also included for the following: - (1) use of divalent metal cations to increase functional activity of antibodies; - (2) method for preparing antibodies in which activity, mediated through the Fc fragment, is potentiated; - (3) solution, for intravenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous injection, containing an antibody (mono- or poly-clonal) and zinc ions, particularly at a concentration at least equal to that of the antibody; and - (4) test for evaluating efficacy of an antibody by studying the three-dimensional configuration of the domain that includes His310, His435 and Asn434, or measuring the content of zinc in the antibody, where presence of zinc indicates efficacy. - ACTIVITY - Cytostatic; Virucide. - No details of tests for these activities are given. - MECHANISM OF ACTION - Passive immunotherapy.
