The invention relates to applied physics and can be used for geology and archaeology for determining the absolute age of rocks and archaeological evidences which contain natural minerals and follow the second order of thermostimulated luminescence kinetics in the range of several hundreds of millennia. The improved accuracy for determining a sample age is obtained by using the temperature of the thermoluminescence peak maximum during determination of a natural dose. For this purpose, the inventive method carried out according to the luminescence of natural materials, i.e. thermoluminescent geochronometers, consists in collecting a sample, measuring a radiation background rate at a sampling point, dressing the sample in such a way that a maximum possible mineral content is attainable, measuring the temperature of the elementary peak maximum selected for age-dating and in calculating the electron density fraction in crystalline texture trap centres which are responsible for the selected elementary peak of the thermostimulated luminescence of the examined nu sample. Afterwards, the age of the sample is calculated taking into account the nu value. |
