摘要 <p>In a conventional normal control machining method, reciprocating operation control of an X-axis table and reciprocating operation control of a Y-axis table are intertwined with each other to complicate control of both tables. A sophisticated control method and a high-performance controller for operating it are thereby required when a toric surface for correcting intensive astigmatism having a significant level difference is ground or cut. In the method for machining an aspheric surface, a workpiece rotating about a rotational axis and a rotary tool (214) movable relatively to the workpiece in the direction of the rotational axis of the workpiece and in the direction orthogonal to the rotational axis are provided, wherein the rotary tool (214) machines the workpiece into an axis-asymmetric aspheric surface by moving in a specified direction at a specified feed pitch in the partial or entire region extending from the center of the rotational axis of the workpiece to the outer circumferential part of the workpiece in the direction orthogonal to the rotational axis of the workpiece.</p>
