Expanded and rolled polystyrene manufacturing procedure uses continuous expansion and rolling processes

The procedure consists of producing expanded polystyrene in a sheet between 10 and 300 mm thick, delivered at a temperature of 40 - 100 degrees C and rolling it, with the two stages carried out in a continuous process. The rolling stage is carried out in a number of substages, with the final sub-stage performed at a pressure greater than the preceding one. The resultant rolled sheet is cut into panels that have a modulus of elasticity of between 0.16 and 0.30 MPa. Also claimed is the apparatus (100) for producing rolled expanded polystyrene panels, comprising an expanded polystyrene unit (2) with rolling (6, 7, 8), panel cutting (9, 10), cooling (11) and adjusting (12) systems.
