Electric installation device for use outdoors, e.g. a movement detector, alarm system, signal unit and lamp, comprises at least one outward facing component (2-4) that is provided with a surface coating (5) containing nanoparticles. The component provided with the surface coating is surrounded by a protective film (6) that is fixed to the component so that reliable protection of the sensitive surface coating is guaranteed and the protective film can be easily removed after mounting of the electric installation device.
