The flame deflector for cigarette lighters comprises a tube (16), through which fuel flows. This is mounted on a flexible base section (52) so that it can be bent through a right angle to produce a horizontal flame (18), rather than a vertical one. Alternatively it is in the form of a spoon-shaped lever with the same effect.
