Production of a plate made from glass or glass-ceramic comprises placing a plate on a support (2) with protrusions (8, 8') and/or recesses, heating the plate and the support above the transition temperature, and cooling to room temperature. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) Glass or glass-ceramic plate produced by the above process; and (2) Flat tool made from steel, preferably a CrNi steel.
