Engine comprises exhaust gas turbocharger (18,42) and cylinders (Z1-4), coupled to suction (1) and exhaust manifold (4) by gas suction valve (30) and gas exhaust valve (31) respectively. To each cylinder is allocated fuel injection valve (34). Exhaust feedback line (81) connects suction and exhaust manifolds, dependent on position exhaust gas feedback valve (82), which is so controlled dependent on crankshaft speed and engine load characterising magnitude that gas mass flows from suction to exhaust manifold through exhaust feedback line.
