The barrier sections (1, 1') are connected by expansion devices (5) located in the expansion gaps (30) between adjacent sections. At least one barrier sections is supported on a plain bearing (7) at one end next to an expansion gap. The expansion device is a piston-cylinder arrangement. The expansion devices are used to compensate for thermal expansion of the barrier sections.
