<p>It is shown a mower deck (50) comprising a top surface and at least one outer sidewall (54a, 56a) having a front portion and a rear portion, a discharge opening provided in that rear portion of the outer sidewall and at least one cutting blade (60), preferably a mulching blade, rotatably supported in the mower deck (50). The rear portion is extending substantially vertically downward from the top surface and an insert (64, 66) is removably attached to that rear portion and/or to an outer surface of the mower deck to block the discharge opening (68) and enable the mowing chamber (54, 56) to be selectively operated in a mulching mode by attaching the insert or in at least a partial discharge mode by removing the insert (64, 66).
