Conveyor system for an aircraft cargo hold

The transporting unit for the cargo hold of an aircraft has a number of ball elements or similar direction dependent transporting elements upon which a container or similar piece of freight can move linearly and/or with direction change in a transporting plane. Braking elements for the braking of movements of a piece of freight with a predetermined final braking force when the freight enters and leaves the cargo hold. The braking elements may be constructed as ball elements with braked balls, or swivel casters with braked casters (23).
