A housing where a filter (21) is installed comprises a separation housing (31) and a separation housing (41). A portion (35) to be latched is provided on the separation housing (31), and a portion (47) to be latched is provided on the separation housing (41). The portion (35) to be latched is latched at a latching portion (51) of a cleaner main body where a filter device (12) is received. The portion (47) to be latched is latched at another latching portion (52) of the cleaner main body. A projection portion (56) is formed on the another latching portion (52). When the another latching portion (52) is at a position corresponding to a non-latched state of the portion (47) to be latched of the separation housing (41), the projection portion (56) comes into contact with a press portion (55) on the inner face of a cover portion (54) of the cleaner main body and brings the cover portion (54) into an open state. This can prevent the housing where the filter (21) is installed from being in an open state in the cleaner main body, and also can prevent the electric cleaner from being used with the housing not being appropriately latched in the cleaner main body.
