alpha-FORM OR beta-FORM CRYSTAL OF ACETANILIDE DERIVATIVE

Novel crystals useful as a starting material for a diabetes remedy. These are alpha-form and beta-form crystals of (R)-2-(2- aminothiazol-4-yl)-4'-[2-[(2-hydroxy-2-phenylethyl)amino]ethyl] acetanilide. The alpha-form crystal has no hygroscopicity, has stability which makes the crystal usable in a medicine, and is useful for mass synthesis in industrial production. The beta-form crystal has relatively low hygroscopicity and is useful also as an intermediate for the alpha-form crystal.
