The invention refers to 2-methyl-5-nitromidazole-1-ethanol derivative compounds, which are synthesized using well-known traditional techniques; the obtained products resulting from the reaction thereof with acetylsalicylic acid and salicylic acid respectively are 2-Acetoxy-acid benzoic-2-(2-methyl-5-nitro-imidazole-1-il)-ethyl ester and 2-hydroxy-acid benzoic-2-(2-methyl-5-nitro-imidazole-1-il)-ethyl ester. The antiprotozoal activity of said products has been proved particularly against Entamoeba histolytica, Trichomonas vaginalis y Giardia lamblia; results obtained thereby show that the synthesized products have a significant activity against the parasites used for carrying out the in-vitro efficacy tests. Pharmaceutical compositions were manufactured, according to said tests, so as to be uses as antiparasitic medicines.
