The laser is applied in laser systems, used for the treatment of materials in microelectronics. It generates in the ultraviolet spectral range of the ionic lines of gold in a positive column of the pulse longitudinal discharge, in a mixture of helium as buffer gas and gold vapours. The ultraviolet ionic gold laser comprises a gas discharge tube of at least two electrodes, with ends cut at a Bruester angle, to which quartz wavers have been pasted. The tube is fitted in an optical resonator made of laser mirrors - outer or inner, for the ultraviolet region. The pressure of the gold vapours is over 0.01 Torr. The gas discharge tube is connected to a generator of excitation pulses with time over 50 ns and amplitude over 1 A and 1 kV.
