The invention relates to a device for folding the legs of a table or bench, being articulated to the table panel or bench seat, the device consisting of some levers (1) articulated at one end (a) to the legs (2), said levers being reinforced to the other end (b) with an indexing roller (4) which constitutes an articulation for an end (c) of other two parallel levers (8) reinforced with each other, the indexing roller (4) ensuring the locking of the levers (1 and 8), in extension in an unfolded condition of the leg (2), or overlapped in the folded condition of the leg (2), through an indexing mechanism consisting of an indexing means (12) whose tip (f) enters a transverse hole (g), cut within the indexing roller (4), either through one side for the folded position or through the other side arranged at 180 for the unfolded position, the tip (f) of the indexing means (12) gliding between the two positions in a circular groove (h) located in the same transverse plane with the plane of the transverse hole (g), the indexing means (12) being maintained in the indexed positions by a spring (14) resting on a stiffening lamella (9) and a pin (13) for handling the indexing means (12), for unlocking with a view to folding or unfolding.
