Disclosed is the use, in the preparation of a pharmaceutical composition for reducing anxiety by increasing ion flow through KCNQ potassium channels in a cell, of a compound able to increase ion flow through KCNQ potassium channels. In the particular the compound is of formula (I), wherein Ar1 and Ar2 are optionally substituted aryl or heteroaryl, X is O, S or N-R1 and the remaining substituents are defined herein.
