PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas purge device and a gas purge method, allowing improvement of processing efficiency of a gas purge with appearance not imparting uneasiness of false recognition that an accident occurs when performing a combustion process of the gas purge of an existing gas pipe embedded in the ground, and allowing realization of high-level safety corresponding to the improvement of the processing efficiency of the gas purge. SOLUTION: Because this gas purge device 1 has an air blow pipe 11 having a blowoff port 11c opening upward at a position higher than an introduction port of an introduction pipe 10 of purge gas to a main body part 7, air energetically blown out from the air blow pipe 11 generates a mixed flow of the air and the purge gas such that the air takes the purge gas in its air current. Accordingly, a large amount of purge gas can be combusted by seemingly difficult-to-view blue fire combustion, and the processing efficiency of the purge gas can be drastically improved with the appearance not imparting the uneasiness of the false recognition that an accident occurs.
