PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hermetic rotary compressor of high reliability with a relatively simple construction capable of reducing an oil discharge quantity to an outside of the compressor and securing an oil quantity in an inside of a hermetically sealed container. SOLUTION: The hermetic rotary compressor comprises a cylindrically-shaped shield member 26 concentric with the compressor and arranged in a space defined by an inner wall of the hermetically sealed container 1, a motor section 2 and a compression mechanism 9, a discharge port 18 of a muffler 17 arranged outside of it, a first filter in an upper part of the motor 2 for separating a refrigerant gas, and a second filter 29 inserted in a discharge pipe and separating the refrigerant gas. This allows the refrigerant gas including oil mist to be filtered by the first and second filters 23, 29 and the filtered gas is discharged outside the compressor though the discharge pipe. The oil discharge quantity to the outside of the compressor can be reduced and the sufficient oil quantity can be secured in the hermetically sealed container. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
