PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for cleaning an adhesive discharge means for cleaning a discharge port of the adhesive discharge means used for a bookbinding apparatus to prevent hardening of paste. SOLUTION: After finishing a series of discharge works or discharging prescribed times, a nozzle 50 of the adhesive discharge means 48 is positioned in a state that the nozzle 50 is present above a cleaning member 36 dipped in water in a vessel 30 and is not in contact with the cleaning member 36. After that, the cleaning member 36 is rotated and the circular arc surface 44 of the cleaning member 36 is brought into contact with the nozzle 50 to clean the nozzle 50 with the circular arc surface 44 holding water. As a result, the occurrence of the lump of the paste on the nozzle 50 is prevented and the discharge quantity of the paste is stabilized to carry out good bookbinding. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
