<p>There is provided an optical recording method for recording information onto a phase-change type optical recording medium by the pulse division method at a low linear velocity. When forming a plurality of recording marks at a constant pulse division number m, the light irradiation time of the recording light for recording the recording mark of the temporal length nT is divided in the order of {alpha1T, beta1T, alpha2T, beta2T, ..., alphaiT, betaiT, ..., alphamT, betamT} (wherein m is a natural number indicating the pulse division number; alpha1 (1 <= i <= m) is a real number greater than 0; betai (1 <= i <= m-1) is a real number greater than 0; betam is a real number not smaller than 0). The recording light having an increased recording power Pwi for recording the shortest recording mark is applied so that m satisfying the following relationship exists: the average value Pwshort of the recording power Pwi at time alphaiT forming the shortest recording mark is greater than the average value Pwlong of the recording power Pwi at time alphaiT forming the longest recording mark (Pwshort > Pwlong).</p> |
