<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ETC lane detection device and an ETC lane detection method for quickly informing a user of a failure in an ETC onboard apparatus for causing no disturbance of vehicle flow on the ETC lane. <P>SOLUTION: A road imaging apparatus 1 picks up an image of a travel lane condition. A view point conversion device 2 performs predetermined view point conversion processing on image information picked up by the road imaging apparatus 1. An ETC lane detection processing part 3 determines whether a vehicle travels on the ETC lane or not according to the image converted by the view point conversion device 2, and by an ETC card presence detection function of the ETC onboard apparatus 6, it is determined whether an ETC card is mounted or not.
