<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a file storage device capable of restoring consistency of file management information even when power failure occurs while restraining degradation of writing speed. <P>SOLUTION: In updating metadata stored in an HDD 108, log data for reconstructing metadata after update from the metadata before the update are first written in an NVRAM 106. After the writing is completed, the update is executed. Thereby, even when metadata for update temporarily stored in a cache memory 1081 partially disappear or when update of metadata of a hard disk 1082 is incomplete, the log data corresponding to the metadata for update are kept in the NVRAM 106, whereby the consistency of the metadata on the hard disk 1082 can be restored by using the log data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
