摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an optical power combining optical system in which light beams from a plurality of light sources are efficiently coupled onto a single light receiving device to obtain high output and the light path length of the optical system is made shorter. SOLUTION: In the optical power combining optical system, light beams from the plurality of light sources (LD)1, which are arranged in an MxN manner (where M>N), are coupled to a single light receiving device 5 using coupling means. The coupling means consist of collimator optical elements 2, anamorphic optical elements 3 and converging optical elements 4. The anamorphic optical elements 3 are arranged so that the magnification along M arrangement directions is made greater than the magnification along N arrangement directions. The luminous flux along the horizontal direction is made small similar to the luminous flux along the vertical direction by the anamorphic optical elements 3, the diameter of a converging lens 12 is made smaller and the focal distance is also made shorter. Thus, the magnification along the vertical direction becomes small, the converging diameter of the luminous flux is small, the coupling efficiency to the light receiving device is improved and emitted light beams having high output are obtained.
