PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a plurality of organic EL elements provided in a display surface to be driven in a stable driving state in a display device of a top surface light-emitting type which takes out emitted light from a side opposite to an element substrate on which the organic EL elements are formed. SOLUTION: A conductive layer 21 is provided over the entire surface on the back side of the element substrate 32 on which the organic EL elements 31 are arranged. The element substrate 32 is placed over a first surface 2a of a rigid wiring board 2 (packaging board) on which the conductive layer 21 is provided. A driving circuit 22 connected to the conductive layer 21 is provided on a second surface 2b of the rigid wiring board 2 that is opposite to the first surface 2a on which the conductive layer 21 is provided. Wiring 31a provided on the element substrate 32 and the driving circuit 22 are connected to each other by a flexible wiring board 4. Furthermore, on the front side of the element substrate 32, a counter substrate 33 is placed so as to sandwich the organic EL elements 31, and the space between the element substrate 32 and the counter substrate 33 is filled with a sealing resin 34.
