PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrooptical device which is appropriate for controlling the light emission of primary color light by a light emitting light source and suppressing the degradation in color purity during displaying of a color image. SOLUTION: The electrooptical device 1 is constituted of a display panel 10 disposed with pixel circuits in a matrix form, a data line driving circuit 11 for driving the data lines of the display panel 10, a scanning line driving circuit 12 for driving the scanning lines of the display panel 10, a primary color light emitting device 13 consisting of a plurality of primary color light emitting circuits emitting the primary color light for displaying the color image, a control circuit 15 for controlling the various components within the electrooptical device 1, and a power supply circuit 16 for supplying a power source to the respective components within the electrooptical device 1. The LED arrays corresponding to the respective colors R, G and B are respectively independently controlled by the primary color light emitting circuits 130 in the primary color light emitting device 13.
