PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pile fabric having a definite difference in level. SOLUTION: The pile fabric of the difference in level comprises shrinkable fibers (A) and non-shrinkable fibers (B). The pile fabric of the difference in level obtained by carrying out brushing and shearing before a step of shrinking the shrinkable fibers (A) and then developing the shrinkage of the shrinkable fibers (A) in a shrinking step has the definite difference in level.
