<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical power conversion apparatus reduced in the maximum breaking current of a switching element, high in efficiency and power factor, and improved in overload enduring rate. <P>SOLUTION: The power conversion apparatus comprises: a transformer TR or an AC reactor Ls connected to an AC power supply SUP; a power diode rectifier REC; a recovery current suppressing reactor La; a voltage-type self-exciting power converter CNV; a DC smoothing capacitor Cd; a bi-directional chopper CHO, and an energy accumulator EDLC. The voltage-type self-exciting power converter CNV is operated by a constant pulse pattern synchronous to the frequency of the AC power supply SUP, controls an input current Ic by adjusting a phase angle ϕ relative to a power supply voltage Vs, and controls a voltage Vd applied to the DC smoothing capacitor Cd so as to make the voltage coincide with a command value Vd<SP>*</SP>. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
