<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cylinder direct injection type engine capable of suppressing increase of an amount of smoke generation at the time of catalyst warming up operation and the like. <P>SOLUTION: The engine 1 is equipped with a combustion chamber 7, an ignition plug 9, a fuel injection valve 10, a piston 8 and a control unit 21. The ignition plug 9 and the fuel injection valve 10 are positioned in the approximately center of an upper part of the combustion chamber 7. An inside cavity 8b is formed in the approximately center of a crown face of the piston 8. At the time of catalyst warming up operation, the control unit 21 injects fuel from the fuel injection valve 10 toward the inside cavity 8b in a compression stroke, forms predetermined air fuel mixture at an air fuel ratio richer than a theoretical air fuel ratio, only in a region inside and above the inside cavity 8b, performs ignition combustion by the ignition plug 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
