PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection screen capable of clearly displaying an image under bright ambient light, and also, capable of preventing reflection of light emitted from a light source, and to provide a projection system equipped with the projection screen. SOLUTION: The projection screen 10-1 is provided with a polarized-light selective reflection layer 11 having a cholesteric liquid crystal structure of selectively reflecting the light of specified polarization component and an optical member 40 arranged on the observation side of the layer 11 and having a rugged part. Right-handed circularly polarized light 31R projected on the projection screen 10-1 is diffused and reflected inside the layer 11, then, the light 31R becomes diffused reflection light 33-1 and 33-2. Some of the right-handed circularly polarized light beams 31R are boundary-reflected by the inclined surfaces 40a and 40b of the rugged part, then, become boundary-reflected light beams 31A and 31B oriented in a direction different from the main outgoing direction of the diffused reflection light 33-1 and 33-2.
