PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element switching device for a microscope capable of satisfactorily performing various types of observation including dark field observation, and also, which is obtained at low cost by eliminating the duplication of optical elements. SOLUTION: Regarding the microscope capable of switching a plurality of observation methods such as a basic bright and dark field observation method and an observation method by an interchangeable cube, a lens holding member 23 is rotated cooperatively with the shift of a cube holding member 12 holding a bright and dark field observation cube 11 and the interchangeable cube 17, then, an illumination lens 25 is inserted/retreated to/from the optical path of an illumination optical system.
