PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily exchange knitting materials present in the unit such as a yarn feeder and the like in a simple structure and firmly maintain the mounted knitting material without being bulky. SOLUTION: A device 10 for exchanging knitting materials is installed in order to exchange yarns used for knitting by switching several yarn feeders 6, 7. The device 10 for exchanging the knitting materials includes two or more holders 11, 12 installed to a carriage side 3 and a retention device 13 installed to the end of a needlebed 2, e.g., the left end of the same. The retention device 13 includes two or more retention stands 14, 15 and exchange mechanisms 16, 17 corresponding to the holder 11, 12, respectively, and is equipped with a controller 18 for performing running of the carriage 3, needle selection of knitting needles 4 and the like.
