PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner for a vehicle capable of increasing mountability on the vehicle while reducing the amount of a sealed refrigerant. SOLUTION: A liquid tank 3 is disposed at a position apart from a condenser 2 so that the air receiving area of the condenser 2 can be largely secured to increase the refrigerating performance of a refrigerating cycle. Also, since the liquid tank 3 is connected to pipes 7 and 8 forming a refrigerant passage ranging from the condenser 2 to an expansion valve 4 through a block type joint 20, even if the liquid tank 3 is formed such that it is disposed apart from the condenser 2 or a sub cool condenser (double tube 10), the liquid tank 3 can be stably disposed in an engine room. In addition, since the bottom part of the liquid tank 3 with an inlet and an outlet is directly connected to the upper end opening 22a of the branch passage 22 of the block type joint 20 by male/female coupling, the liquid tank 3 can be rather easily connected midway 21 to the refrigerant passage ranging from the condenser 2 to the double tube 10.
