PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-vehicle antenna assembly capable of preventing a breakage of an antenna. SOLUTION: The in-vehicle antenna assembly mounted on an automobile comprises a retreat detection means for detecting that the automobile is in a backward state or its advancing direction is backward, an antenna with its one end fixed to the automobile and the other end height variable, and an antenna drive means for moving the variable end to a working position or to a storage position located in a position lower than the working position. When the retreat detection means detects that the automobile is in a backward state or the advancing direction is backward, the antenna drive means moves the variable end to a predetermined position located in a position lower than the working position.
